For decades, the high-end audio world has been defined by a certain divide between "analog" and "digital".

But something interesting has been happening over the last decade. Slowly but steadily, active loudspeaker systems have gained acceptance among serious audiophiles. Not because they are fashionable, but because they solve real engineering problems. Precise crossover implementation, driver control, time alignment and room integration are all easier to achieve when amplification and signal processing are designed together with the loudspeaker.

Most recording studios already use active speakers, and it has been the norm for a long time. Increasingly, audiophiles do as well. Not long ago, you'd be considered crazy for suggesting that a turntable manufacturer, a company whose entire focus is analog playback, used active DSP-controlled loudspeakers as their reference systems.

It may still be a little crazy, but regardless, that moment has arrived.

Dr. Feickert Analogue chooses the Sigberg Audio Saranna

Sigberg Audio is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Dr. Feickert Analogue (DFA).

Founded in 1999 by Chris Feickert, the German company has built a global reputation for precision-engineered turntables and setup tools. DFA’s philosophy has always focused on durable products, precision engineering, and long-term value rather than short-lived trends.

While expanding their development and demonstration systems, DFA conducted extensive listening tests with a number of highly regarded loudspeaker systems used in both home and studio environments.

Following this evaluation, they selected the Sigberg Audio Saranna active loudspeaker system.

“One of the best systems we have heard”

According to Chris Feickert, the decision came after careful comparisons, and he highlights both the realism of the presentation and the ease of setup.

“We have compared the Saranna with several highly regarded loudspeaker systems used in home and studio environments. It quickly became clear that, considering all objective parameters, it is one of the best systems we have heard in our listening room.”

“The presentation is strikingly realistic, with a wide, stable soundstage and a neutral balance that simply locks in. Nothing becomes fatiguing, even when playing very loud.

It’s also easy to set up with flexible adjustment options, which makes it quick to achieve excellent sound.”

The Saranna system will now be used both in Chris Feickert’s personal listening room and in DFA’s exhibition systems at future hi-fi shows, starting with Analog Forum in Moers, Germany on March 21-22nd, 2026.

Engineering philosophies that align

At first glance, a turntable manufacturer and a loudspeaker company that build active, DSP enabled speakers may seem like unlikely partners.

In reality, both companies are driven by the same priorities: engineering precision, long-term product design, and a focus on musical realism rather than trends.

For Sigberg Audio, the collaboration is also an encouraging sign of how the industry is evolving. The lines between “analog” and “digital” playback philosophies are becoming less important than the true goal:

Reproducing music as convincingly as possible.
